Mark Fell’s Psychic Resynthesis is a striking instrumental work performed by Explore Ensemble and released by frozen reeds as a double LP with digital download. A multidisciplinary artist, composer, and theorist from Rotherham, Fell has long been associated with rigorous electronic composition, computational systems, and radical approaches to rhythm, structure, and perception.

Here, his work enters a chamber context through a commission for Explore Ensemble. Rather than producing a conventional meeting of electronic thought and classical instrumentation, Psychic Resynthesis unfolds as a focused, tonal, and highly detailed piece where system, flexibility, composer, and performer all press against one another. Mathematical structure and sonic fixation sit in productive tension, allowing the music to move outside familiar ideas of linear progression.

Issued in an edition of 777 copies and mastered by Jim O'Rourke, this double LP is both elegant and elusive: a chamber work of deep listening, subtle conflict, and repeated discovery.
