L.A. 2000 & DJ Sotofett / Salik – Dub Toner (Dub 2) / Bless Up

Two heavyweight dubplate exclusives finally see a proper vinyl release on DJ Sotofett's WANIA imprint, pairing deep dubby electronics with atmospheric, breakbeat-driven soundsystem excursions.

Manchester's L.A. 2000 links up with DJ Sotofett for 'Dub Toner (Dub 2)', a stripped-back dub house stepper built around clipped rhythms, shimmering chords, gritty stabs and expertly controlled delays. The groove gradually thickens as the low end reveals itself, delivering a hypnotic, late-night workout with serious soundsystem weight.

On the flip, South London's Salik brings a different kind of energy to 'Bless Up', blending scuffed hardcore breaks, floating keys, hazy vocal textures and deep, rolling bass. Drawing on the atmospheric edges of jungle, dubstep and breakbeat, it's a woozy, uplifting counterpoint to the A-side's focused minimalism.

As ever with Sotofett, this is very reasonably priced and cut super loud for maximum club impact. Raw, spacious, deeply rhythmic and engineered for proper speakers.
