The 12" that put both Marquis Hawkes and label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams on the map; since it's release in 2012 the Cabrini Green EP has already gained a classic/cult status which is no surprise considering the four flawless bangers laid down seemingly out of nowhere from the mysterious Hawkes figure. At first we all thought he was some long-lost local Chicago hero finally unveiled and given his dues - turns out he was some dude from London - but somehow that doesn't stop him giving Adonis a strong run for his money.

With the classic jacking house of 'Housing Project', the sci-fi stylings of 'Marvin', the glorious belching acid excursion of 'Teetotal acid' and clear EP highlight 'Sealion Woman' (a perfect blend of Ballroom house and Dance Mania craziness which everyone should own) Marquis Hawkes set his own bar very high indeed - luckily for us he seems to have met it with every subsequent release. Absolute killer.

This is the original first pressing of Cabrini Green on transparent vinyl. Don't sleep.
